In the dyeing process, there are printing and dyeing processes. In the printing and dyeing process, there are similarities and many differences between the two. Only by understanding their similarities and differences can the dyes function better.
Similarities: The dyeing and fixing principles of the applied dyes are similar; the physical and chemical properties of the chemical auxiliaries used are similar; the same type of fiber can have the same color fastness if it is dyed and printed with the same dye.
Differences: No or a small amount of thickening paste is added to the dyeing solution, and more thickening paste is added to the printing paste; the dye is easy to dissolve in the dyeing solution, and no cosolvent is added. For printing paste, add more co-solvent; when dyeing, the dye penetrates and diffuses fully. When printing, the dye is not easy to diffuse and penetrate, and it must be steamed or baked; dyeing and printing may have special requirements for the same type of dye; dyeing seldom uses two different types of dyes to match colors. Different types of dyes are often used in printing; printed fabrics have high requirements for the weft of semi-finished products; printing has better concealment of gray fabric defects than dyeing; and dyeing and printing have different pre-processing requirements for semi-finished products.
